The Architecture Foundation of British Columbia (AFBC) is a non-profit organization that advocates for the advancement of architecture in British Columbia. As a registered charity they fund education programs, scholarships and philanthropic initiatives, connecting communities in British Columbia with all things design.
The AFBC was looking to grow and gain a stronger presence in the community. They needed a new brand identity to stand out in their field and properly reflect their expanding organization. To show-off the AFBC as a leading force in the design and architecture community and capture the attention of prospective members, the new identity needed to be captivating, bold, and classic.
Matter created a new brand that combines the freedom of art with the rigour of science—the unique combination that brings architecture itself to life. We chose a concrete and metallic gold colour palette inspired by different and contrasting building materials and created a website as well as several pieces of brand collateral like membership cards and swag items to bring the new brand from the digital realm into the real world.
The new eye-catching brand caused a stir in the industry, instantly resonating with AFBC’s audiences. The AFBC used the new brand’s traditional look, feel and sophisticated design as a platform to build engagement and attract members to the foundation.
